New to networking? This book could help
You have been invited to a business networking event and you are filled with trepidation. What’s the etiquette? Will you make a terrible faux pas?
Then IT industry adviser Richard Tubb has published the ideal book for you, even if you are in a different profession: Business Networking for Geeks. You can read a sample on Amazon. Lots of friendly suggestions and tips, and you will even spot contributions from your favourite local business networker, Computer Troubleshooters!
Networking can be an important element of your marketing mix; if you feel reticent, it makes sense to educate yourself by tapping into the experience of people who have been there and done that. A bit of preparation goes a long way.
If you liked my networking insights, you can read the full blog I wrote in response to Richard’s request for comments for his book. You will see that I have been able to name check Sevenoaks Chamber as a great place to go and put those new networking skills into practice.
If you never venture out of your office into the business community, how will anyone find out about the wonderful services you offer. Come on, be brave and try a networking event or two. If flying solo feels too exposed, recruit a colleague or business associate as your wingman – but do remember to venture out and speak to new people rather than sticking with your friends in the corner.
Happy networking!
